Flowers (and grasses) in the winter (a mini-series)
I absolutely love the winter landscapes of the Lake Superior North Shore. The flowers and grasses that seem to survive the cold (- 20 Celsius) weather are fascinating to me. Quite a few of them, over the course of just a few days, ended up in this series.
Mini-series are fun as the project is small and can be completed quickly! Some of these images have been posted on Instagram. Such a project also represents a (creative) continuation of my quest for a film stock I like best. One thing I started noticing is that there is a clear distinction between 135 (35mm) and 120 (6x6cm for me) format.
While there are many stocks I like, thus far, the Rollei black and white films, in particular Rollei RPX 25 and Rollei Retro 80S are among my favorites (for 35mm, I haven’t tried those for 120 yet).
For a great and more systematic (scientific) comparison of 100 and 400 black and white film stocks and developers, I highly recommend Denae & Andrew’s 100 film stock reviews, 400 film stock reviews, and black and white developer reviews.

I especially liked the images in the series: 120 format (6x6cm) Images
Thanks, Becky! I often like the 120 formats as well as it does give more detail. The 35mm format is fun, too, and easier to carry as a camera system 😉
